Support UVA Children's Efforts to Reduce Food Insecurity through the Fresh Farmacy Program and Battle Building Food Pantry!!
In Charlottesville, 17.5% of families face food insecurity. Many of these families lack access to healthy food which can lead to obesity and chronic health conditions.
UVA Children's has partnered with Local Food Hub to aid families who are food insecure in the Charlottesville area.
Local Food Hub established a program, Fresh Farmacy, where patients and their families are "prescribed" fresh food to be delivered to their residence.
We will identify families through the Pediatrics Clinic at Battle Building who can benefit from fresh food.
As a complement to Fresh Farmacy, we have established a healthy non-perishable food pantry for families who identify as food insecure at their Battle Building visit. Families will receive food that day and more information about resources available to them.
Now more than ever, access to healthy food is vital. Please consider a donation to help local community members in need.
